The crown fell. The walls remained.
The kingdom was not taken in a day. First the roads closed, then the villages emptied, and at last even the gate-guards stopped asking who came in. What remains is one city that still burns at night, and a ring of dark around it.
You arrive as wanderers - no title, no name, a little gold and a few potions. Whatever you have from here, you take by force: from the monsters on the roads, the merchants in the market, and the players who stand opposite you in the arena.
